NBA Rookie Rankings: Andrew Nembhard shines against Warriors; Keegan Murray making winning plays for Kings

Image
Without a doubt the leading story amongst the NBA rookies this week was Andrew Nembhard's standout performance in a 112-104 win over the Golden State Warriors. Nembhard outdueled reigning Finals MVP Stephen Curry, and dismantled Golden State's defense in the process. Pacers coach Rick Carlisle praised his rookie guard after the game, saying he probably should've gone higher than the 31st overall pick in the 2022 NBA Draft. "I've been saying that down the line, when there's a redraft of the '22 draft, he'd be a top 15 pick," Carlisle said. "I'm elevating that to a top 10 pick. He really is a special player." Given how much of an impact Nembhard has made on the Pacers since being inserted into the starting lineup, that's not a completely outrageous statement to make. We'll just have to wait and see if the rookie can continue the tear he's been on over t...

Bulls' DeMar DeRozan hits game-winning jumper vs. Knicks after Jalen Brunson misses two late free throws

DeMar DeRozan hasn't been as brilliant in the clutch this season as he was the last, but by just about any other standard he's still been great. Entering Friday's Game against the Knicks, DeRozan trailed only Shai Gilgeous-Alexander with 72 total clutch points at a 45-percent shooting clip.  The Bulls aren't winning those tight Game s like they did last season. But they got one on Friday courtesy of DeRozan, who dealt the Knicks a brutal loss with a Game - winning jumper -- plus the foul -- with 0.4 seconds remaining.  DEMAR DEROZAN PUTS THE BULLS AHEAD WITH 0.4 SECONDS TO PLAY pic.twitter.com/G7HaX2V35A — Bulls Talk (@NBCSBulls) December 24, 2022 Billy Donovan drew up a basic ball screen to get the bigger RJ Barrett switched off on DeRozan, who then got to go one on one with Quentin Grimes. Once DeRozan, one of the best iso players in the league, starts walking y...

Raptors snap Knicks' eight-game winning streak behind Pascal Siakam's career-high 52 points

Before the season, a Toronto Raptors victory over the New York Knicks hardly would have qualified as news. The Knicks were coming off of a lottery season. The Raptors looked like an ascending contender. But based on just the last several weeks? Toronto's 113-106 victory over New York at Madison Square Garden Wednesday night qualifies as one of the season's bigger upsets. The Knicks, behind Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle, had won eight straight games entering the contest. The Raptors, feeling the weight of their limited depth and starting to hear trade rumors involving their best players, had lost six in a row. But those few valuable Raptors were more than enough on Wednesday as Toronto snapped New York's league-best active winning streak behind one of the more lopsided performances within a single team you'll ever see. Three Raptors combined to score 95 of Toronto's 113 points . Unsurprisingl...
