Wemby Watch: Victor Wembanyama leads team to another victory as NBA franchises jockey for draft positioning

We need to start this week's edition of Wemby Watch in Indianapolis, where it appears as though the wrong team is making a bid for Victor Wembanyama. We came into the year expecting the Pacers to lose their way into the running, but through 10 games, they've managed a .500 record that will keep them out of this week's race to the bottom. Myles Turner, who scored 37 points in an upset win over the Pelicans Monday, is openly pitching himself to the Lakers on podcasts... yet the Pacers just keep humming along, lowering their Wemby odds with each passing win. So we're compelled to ask... are the Colts trying to pick up their slack in the losing department? On Monday, they fired former third-place Coach of the Year finisher Frank Reich and replaced him with Jeff Saturday, a former Pro Bowler with no coaching experience beyond the high school level. If Wembanyama makes a surprise heel turn and announces...

Lakers' Anthony Davis continues hot streak with LeBron James sidelined in victory over Pistons

With a 2-10 record and an injured LeBron James, the season very easily could have ended a week ago for the Los Angeles Lakers. A few more losses and their hole would've been too deep to climb out of. Instead, the Lakers have clawed their way back up to 4-10 with a stretch of winnable games ahead of them. Who do they have to thank for that? Anthony Davis. "He's the best player in the league," Lonnie Walker IV said after Friday's 128-121 victory over the Pistons. "It's all about bringing it night in, night out." That honorific might be a bit much, but Walker isn't far off. In L.A.'s past two victories, Davis has accumulated a combined 75 points and 34 rebounds. In four games without James by his side, he is averaging 32.5 points, 13 rebounds and 2.5 assists. His struggles in asserting himself next to James and Russell Westbrook were one of the dominant stories for the La...

James Harden's return to action: Rockets outlast 76ers in double overtime, pull out 132-123 victory

James Harden made his highly anticipated return to the Philadelphia 76ers active lineup on Monday night against the team he spent the bulk of his career with -- the Houston Rockets. Harden last played in a game for Philly on Nov. 2, against the Washington Wizards. He injured his foot during that contest and has been sidelined with a right foot tendon strain since. The Sixers played 14 games in Harden's absence and went 8-6 during that span. Harden may have been out for a month, but he was immediately tasked with playing some major minutes. Sixers coach Doc Rivers said that Harden would be on a minutes restriction before the game against Houston, but an additional 10 minutes were needed to determine a victor . By the time the second overtime ended, Harden had logged 38 minutes of action . In that time, he tallied 21 points, seven assists, and four rebounds, but his return and resulting production weren't ...
