Steph Curry defeats Sabrina Ionescu in first ever WNBA & NBA 3-point contest

Image
While the NBA’s All-Star Weekend still had its regular 3-point contest, there was a unique spin on the event this year with the Golden State Warriors’ Steph Curry going head to head with WNBA sensation and New York Liberty sniper, Sabrina Ionescu to establish who is superior from beyond the arc. Steph Curry edges Sabrina Ionescu in 3-point showdown Again, it would be fair to say that there were no losers on Saturday night when Stephen Curry and Sabrina Ionescu went up against each other in a 3-point contest, but as is always the case, somebody had to be declared the winner. To that effect, it was the Warriors talisman who came out on top with 29 points. Interestingly, Ionescu chose not to shoot from the women’s 3-point line of 20 feet, 6 inches, opting instead to use the NBA’s regulation line distance of 23 feet, 9 inches, though she did still use a WNBA ball. SABRINA IONESCU. 26 POINTS. COOKING. Stephen Curry is up next on TNT! https://t.co/fvM9iOA0ZD pic.twitter.com/nlDCX25eIx —...

NBA 3-point Contest 2024 Picks, Predictions & Best Bets for NBA All-Star Weekend | Pickswise

The recent highlight of the All-Star weekend returns once more tonight. The Starry 3-point contest is arguably the only event left on All-Star Saturday that does not deter the biggest names in the league from competing, unlike the Slam Dunk Contest. The competition involves players shooting from 5 different racks, one of which they designate as their money ball rack, worth double the points. There are also 2 Starry Ball shots from deep 3-point range that are worth 3 points. Each contestant gets 70 seconds to get all of their shots up. Everybody takes part in the first round, with the top 3 scorers from there moving onto the final round where they go again. With the format down, lets dive into some of the favorites below.   Damian Lillard +420 Damian Lillard returns to the 3-point contest to defend the crown that he was able to win last year. He did so by scoring 26 in both rounds, but might struggle to recreate that form tonight. He is not having a great year shooting the deep...

How many games has Stephen Curry gone without scoring a 3-pointer in his career?

Steph Curry, widely regarded as one of the greatest shooters in the History of the NBA , had a difficult time on December 17, 2023, when the Golden State Warriors played against the Portland Trail Blazers. Curry’s remarkable streak of making at least one 3-pointer in 268 consecutive Game s ended that night. JUST HOW WILD WAS CURRY’S RECORD 3-POINT STREAK? For more than five years — from Dec. 1, 2018 until Dec. 17, 2023 — Stephen Curry made at least one 3-pointer in 268 consecutive Game s. ▪️ That’s 1,842 days of never having an 0-for night in the NBA ▪️ Curry’s 268- Game run is the… pic.twitter.com/27SHmaDcJV — NBA (@NBA) December 19, 2023 Despite being the two-time MVP and a four-time NBA champion, Curry struggled to find his rhythm during the game . He finished with only 7 points, shooting 2-for-12 (16.7%) from the field and 0-for-8 from beyond the arc . This was a rare occasion, as Curry has been a prolific scorer from a distance, consistently making more than 40% of hi...

Klay Thompson ignites historic 3-point outbreak for Warriors, who finally end road losing streak

If the Warriors are in one-step-at-a-time mode as they try to crawl out of this early season hole, they took a notable one on Sunday with their first road victory, improving to 1-8 away from Chase Center with a 127-120 in Houston.  The 0-8 road start to the year was the second-worst mark in franchise history, trailing only the 1989-90 team that lost its first nine games away from home.  Klay Thompson, whose struggles have been well chronicled to begin the season, was in vintage form with 10 3-point ers en route to 41 points. Stephen Curry added 33 points with seven 3s. Do the math, and that's a combined 17 3-point ers and 74 points from the Splash Brothers.  🔥 @KlayThompson WENT WILD in the @warriors win! He went off for 20 PTS in Q1 on his way to a season-high 41 PTS and 10 triples! #DubNation 💦 41 PTS 💦 10 3PM (10-13) pic.twitter.com/qHWVlFTE9d — NBA (@NBA) November 21, 2022 ...

Klay Thompson unable to connect on game-tying 3-pointer after Warriors run slick out-of-bounds play in Dallas

The Golden State Warriors saw their three-game win streak snapped on Tuesday with a 116-113 loss in Dallas, where Luka Doncic was too much with the fifth 40 -point triple-double of his career (41 points, 12 rebounds, 12 assists).  It was a pretty wild game that featured some incredible play- and shotmaking on both sides, namely from Doncic and Stephen Curry, the two leading scorers in the league. Over the final nine minutes, the score was within one possession for all but 15 seconds, over which the Mavericks enjoyed a brief four -point lead. The biggest margin either team enjoyed throughout the entire fourth quarter was five.  With 4.4 seconds left, Dorian Finney-Smith had a chance to seal it for Dallas with a pair of free throws, but he missed the second one, leaving the door open for the Warriors trailing by three. Golden State called timeout, and Steve Kerr drew up a misdirection play from a sideline out-of-b...

Kings remind NBA of their offensive firepower with 12 first-quarter 3-pointers during rout of Grizzlies

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the biggest surprises in the league this season, thanks in large part to their explosive offense. Entering Monday night's showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Kings were scoring 117.7 points per 100 possessions, which ranked second only behind the Denver Nuggets.  Early on, they gave the Grizzlies, and the rest of the league, another reminder of their offensive firepower by pouring in 12 3-pointers in the first quarter to tie an NBA record for the most 3s made in a single quarter . They went 12-of-13 from downtown in the first and scored 47 points, and didn't slow down the rest of the way. They finished 22-of-40 from 3 in a 133-100 win.  The Kings just tied an NBA record with 12 threes in the first quarter 🤯 📲 https://t.co/WjxYAo0Ivs pic.twitter.com/LmsBd5DVXi — NBA (@NBA) January 24, 2023 For the most part, it was pretty sim...
