Kings remind NBA of their offensive firepower with 12 first-quarter 3-pointers during rout of Grizzlies

The Sacramento Kings have been one of the biggest surprises in the league this season, thanks in large part to their explosive offense. Entering Monday night's showdown with the Memphis Grizzlies, the Kings were scoring 117.7 points per 100 possessions, which ranked second only behind the Denver Nuggets.  Early on, they gave the Grizzlies, and the rest of the league, another reminder of their offensive firepower by pouring in 12 3-pointers in the first quarter to tie an NBA record for the most 3s made in a single quarter . They went 12-of-13 from downtown in the first and scored 47 points, and didn't slow down the rest of the way. They finished 22-of-40 from 3 in a 133-100 win.  The Kings just tied an NBA record with 12 threes in the first quarter 🤯 📲 https://t.co/WjxYAo0Ivs pic.twitter.com/LmsBd5DVXi — NBA (@NBA) January 24, 2023 For the most part, it was pretty sim...

How LeBron James, Russell Westbrook and Darvin Ham are all contributing to Lakers' late-game offensive woes

LeBron James is on the shortlist of players you'd most want to give the ball to on a critical possession late in a key Game . Three Kings defenders awaited him there. He nearly went up after a spin move, but with no space to operate and finding little breathing room while working off of his pivot foot, he passed the ball back out, demanded it back behind the arc, and fired and ill-fated 3-pointer. Miss. The sequence didn't cost the Lakers the Game . Still, it was the latest in a string of recent offensive misadventures that have held an otherwise strong Lakers team below .500. They scored ...

NBA Rookie Rankings: Jeremy Sochan's offensive game is improving; Jalen Williams shines for Thunder

As we get further into the season we're seeing more parity on this weekly Rookie Rankings list, which just shows that every player gets going at their own pace. The usual suspects of Paolo Banchero and Bennedict Mathurin still appear regularly here, but we're also seeing guys like Jeremy Sochan, who has quietly become one of the best defenders in his rookie class and is beginning to expand his offensive Game . There are also names like Jalen Duren, who has been the best rookie rebounder on a Pistons team filled with young talent. It's a good sign that shows the 2022 NBA Draft was more than just the top five or six guys, and while Sochan and Duren were lottery picks, we're starting to see them, as well as guys picked later in the draft, get more comfortable at the NBA level and as a result, they're having more notable performances.    Now it's time to break down this week's Rookie Ran...
