Al Horford will sign a two -year , $20 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, agent Jason Glushon told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Horford was set to hit free agency in the summer, but will now remain under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season, at which point he will be 39 years old. In 18 games this season, Horford has averaged 10.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 0.9 blocks in 31.3 minutes, while shooting 55..5 percent and making 48.8 percent of his 3-point attempts. His usage rate is a career-low 12 percent, but his true shooting percentage is a career-high 69.7 percent.  If Horford maintains something resembling this level of production, the new deal will be a bargain for Boston. When Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young sat out Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets, head coach Nate McMillan ascribed his absence to a "miscommunication." Now, thanks to a report from Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic, we have a better idea of what that miscommunication actually was. According to Charania and Amick, Young skipped shootaround on Friday to focus on getting treatment for his shoulder soreness. He would then decide closer to game time whether or not he would be able to play. This apparently was not approved by McMillan, who gave Young two options: come off of the bench, or don't attend the game at all. Young wound up choosing the latter. The Milwaukee Bucks and Serge Ibaka have mutually agree d to find the veteran big man a new team through trade , according to The Athletic's Shams Charania. Ibaka has been away from the team due to what has been described as personal reasons. The Bucks acquired Ibaka at last season's trade deadline and did so largely due to the questions surrounding the Health of Brook Lopez. Now Lopez is Health y and thriving, and with Giannis Antetokounmpo and Bobby Portis entrenched, there simply aren't minutes available for Ibaka. If he wants to play, he'll need a new team. ...
