Suns' strange Jae Crowder saga could be nearing its end, per reports

Jae Crowder might play basketball again soon. The Phoenix Suns were close to finalizing a three-team trade involving the 32-year-old forward on Wednesday, according to Yahoo Sports ' Jake Fischer. That report followed Marc Stein's tweet about "credible rumbles" that the Suns had gotten closer to getting this strange saga over with. It also followed Crowder posting a mantelpiece clock emoji on his Instagram story.  Crowder's 11th season in the NBA hasn't really started yet. Just before training camp, he tweeted (and subsequently deleted) that he wouldn't be there, and the next day the Suns announced that Crowder and the team had "mutually agreed" that he would not be with the team. ESPN's Brian Windhorst report ed that Crowder had asked for a trade in the summer when informed he may lose his starting job to Cameron Johnson, and that, when he didn't get his wish, he...

Hawks' Trae Young didn't attend game vs. Nuggets over disagreement with coach Nate McMillan, per report

When Atlanta Hawks star Trae Young sat out Friday's game against the Denver Nuggets, head coach Nate McMillan ascribed his absence to a "miscommunication." Now, thanks to a report from Shams Charania and Sam Amick of The Athletic, we have a better idea of what that miscommunication actually was. According to Charania and Amick, Young skipped shootaround on Friday to focus on getting treatment for his shoulder soreness. He would then decide closer to game time whether or not he would be able to play. This apparently was not approved by McMillan, who gave Young two options: come off of the bench, or don't attend the game at all. Young wound up choosing the latter. The Hawks wound up defeating the Nuggets, 117-110, and are now 13-10 with the No. 4 seed in the Eastern Conference. Statistically speaking, though, Young is having a bit of a down year. His shooting percentages are down across the boar...

Luka Doncic injury update: Mavericks star's heel issue reportedly 'not severe'; status vs. Warriors uncertain

Luka Doncic had an MRI Friday morning to determine the severity of a heel contusion he suffered during the Dallas Mavericks 111-106 win against the New Orleans Pelicans on Thursday night. The imaging revealed that the heel contusion is "not severe " per Mavericks head coach Jason Kidd, but his status for Saturday's Game against the Golden State Warriors is unknown at this time. Doncic didn't practice on Friday, and he won't travel with the team to San Francisco as it begins a five-game road trip that features games against the Warriors, Jazz, Clippers and back-to-back matchups with the Kings. However, Doncic hasn't been officially ruled out of the Warriors game or the rest of the road trip. In fact, the Mavericks are unsure if he'll need to miss any time at all. While talking to reporters after practice, Mavericks forward Dorian Finney-Smith alluded to Doncic not playing at the star...

Hawks coach Nate McMillan responds to report suggesting he may resign: 'We'll move on past that'

After a report emerged Friday afternoon suggesting that Atlanta Hawks coach Nate McMillan is strongly considering resigning amid a disappointing 17-18 start, the Hawks coach responded to the report prior to his team's game against the Lakers.  "I read that article briefly, I've never spoke to that reporter before," McMillan said. "I think the last two weeks he's written a couple articles with some sources in our organization that are making some comments about me, and some things that I'm saying and doing. Look, at the end of the year, I'll do as I've always done, at the end of the season I talk with my family and see if I still have that flame, that fire to continue next season. That's the end of the season. All of us think about retiring, but that's at the end of the season. So we'll move on past that." Based on that response, McMillan didn't really ref...
