Golden State Warriors’ Draymond Green says he forfeited millions for Kevin Durant trade. Is that true?

Image
As the story goes, it was Golden State Warriors big man Draymond Green who texted Kevin Durant from the parking lot with tears in his eyes, while begging him to join the Dubs following a Game 7 loss in the 2016 Finals. Needless to say, the tale has been retold many times over and with increased spice every time. The reality of what happened that day, however, is not so extravagant. Draymond Green clears the air on Kevin Durant texts Warriors fans will likely remember with some horror the manner in which their team capitulated in the 2016 NBA Finals as Steph Curry and Co. blew a 3-1 lead to the LeBron James-led Cleveland Cavaliers. They will also certainly recall the fervor that surrounded an alleged conversation that took place between Draymond Green and Kevin Durant. Yet, what they may not know is that much of what was said in the media, was not actually said between the two stars. Speaking back in 2021 on an episode of “The ETCS podcast Kevin Durant”, the pair actually openly dis...

Indiana Jones’ box office destiny? A lukewarm $60 million debut in North America

Moviegoers were only moderately interested in going to the theater to say goodbye to Harrison Ford’s archaeologist character in “Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny.” Indiana Jones, and executives at the Walt Disney Co. and Lucasfilm, made a somewhat dispiriting discovery this weekend. Moviegoers didn't rush to the theater in significant numbers to see “ Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny" and say goodbye to Harrison Ford as the iconic archaeologist. The film, reportedly budgeted north of $250 million , came in on the lower end of projections with $60 million in ticket sales from 4,600 North American theaters, according to studio estimates Sunday. Including $70 million from international showings in 52 markets, “Dial of Destiny” celebrated a $130 million global opening. It easily earned the No. 1 title but was not the high-rolling sendoff for one of modern cinema’s most iconic actor/character pairings that anyone hoped. Disney is projecting that it will make $82 millio...

Celtics' Al Horford agrees to two-year, $20 million contract extension

Al Horford will sign a two -year , $20 million contract extension with the Boston Celtics, agent Jason Glushon told ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski. Horford was set to hit free agency in the summer, but will now remain under contract until the end of the 2024-25 season, at which point he will be 39 years old. In 18 games this season, Horford has averaged 10.9 points, 6.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists and 0.9 blocks in 31.3 minutes, while shooting 55..5 percent and making 48.8 percent of his 3-point attempts. His usage rate is a career-low 12 percent, but his true shooting percentage is a career-high 69.7 percent.  If Horford maintains something resembling this level of production, the new deal will be a bargain for Boston. He was an enormous part of the Celtics' NBA Finals run last season, providing versatility on both ends and raising his game in the playoffs. Most memorably, Horford scored 30 points on 11-for-14 s...

Warriors trade rumors: James Wiseman deal becoming more realistic, could save Golden State $131 million

The Golden State Warriors have remained steadfast in their commitment to James Wiseman, Moses Moody, and Jonathan Kuminga. All three of them were drafted with a lottery pick and with the hope that they would act as a collective bridge to the next era of contention.  That hasn't happened, and the prevailing question remains when the Warriors might pull the plug on their youth experiment and strike a deal to either bring back actual contributing players or save some money. While Kuminga has cemented himself as a part of this current rotation, neither Wiseman nor Moody can get on the floor, and word is starting to percolate that Golden State might finally be ready to discuss at least the possibility of moving on one or both of them.  From Anthony Slater of The Athletic: The noise around the league the last couple of days is an increased willingness from the Warriors to engage in conversation and explore the idea ...
